Rare! Circa 1884 British , Silver & Cowrie Shell Snuff box

This exquisite shell possesses the most amazing array of colors; starting with the richly colored jet black color one usually sees on a mussel shell but then there is a wonderfully large area of a softest creamy white color and just bellow the most amazing vivid shade of violet that starts beneath the creamy white and follows along the shell to it's rounded end...it is a truly stunning piece.

It measures a full 3 inches in length by 1 1/2 inches at the rounded end...it is a splendid cowrie that fits so very well in the palm of your hand, that you just want to hold and rub it or perhaps use it as a very, very special pill box.
