Thank you, Robert
This is an exceptional set of Marine etchings, meticulously detailed and hand-colored from the 18th to mid 19th century by the famous marine artist George Baxter C.1804- 1867
One etching depicts an exceptionally beautifully seascape of naval ships, schooners, motor launches and other assorted marine vessels complete with all manner of passengers and crew in wonderfully colored period dress coming into a very, very busy harbor.
The other etching equally beautiful, of the Venice Canal and Harbor complete with the famous San Marco cathedral in the background. There are many different sailing vessels and of course, as one might expect many different gondola, gondoliers and passengers in period dress and a man walking up steps from the canal into a home... if you have been to Venice...
Beautifully drawn, the brush work is the superb work of the famed British artist George Baxter. An extremely costly and time consuming labor of love, which when completed often tripled or quadrupled in price as it was so highly regarded as it is today.
Condition and Appearance: Excellent
Possessing good margins with a barely visible minor tear in the Venice scene, which I mention only for accuracy as it does not effect the quality or value of these beautiful etchings.
