This is a very nice example of an American Papier Mache doll by Greiner. Her shoulderhead is in very good condition with no repairs or repainting. Her original cloth body has long leather arms. She has four pieces of antique underwear, original leather ankle boots, and an appropriate dress of antique fabric and lace. Layaway is always an option. Contact me to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her papier mache shoulderhead is in very good aged condition. She retains her original paint and I see no repairs of any kind. Her back shoulderplate carries the Greiner patent label dated 1858. She has an earlier modified flattop hairstyle circa 1860. She has neatly painted features and partially exposed ears. Examination: She has a few rubs and light overall crazing – very nice!
Body: Her antique cloth body appears to be original. It is correct in size and age, and it is in excellent aged condition. She has long leather arms. One arms has wear to the darker outside coloring, and one arm has been re-attached with a cloth patch at the top. She as extremely wide hips and a narrow waist.
Clothes: She is fully dressed and her costume is perfect for her. I am not sure of the age of her dress, but I believe it is made of antique fabrics and laces. Underneath, she wears a three-piece matched set of unders, made with the tiniest French seams, and she also has an additional half-slip. She has wonderful fancy-knit lacy stockings and great leather ankle boots. It is very likely that the matched unders, boots, and stockings are original to this doll. The boots are worn, and everything else is in excellent condition. Everything fits perfectly.
