This is a large and appealing example of the elusive mold # 979 by Simon and Halbig, circa 1888. She has perfect bisque and her heavy original body retains all the original finish. She is fully dressed in all antique clothing, wig, hat, and shoes. Layaway is always an option. Please contact me to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her bisque head is perfect with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. She has an open mouth with two big square teeth on top and one square tooth on the bottom. These large square teeth are typical of Simon and Halbig circa 1888, and may be their earliest version of an open-mouth doll. Her heart-shaped face has perfect painting and crisply molded features. She has brown sleep eyes and flat (not molded) eye brows. Her protruding ears are set high. She is incised 979/16. She does not bear the S&H initials, which is typical of this mold #. She wears an old brown human hair wig, pulled back into the remains of a ribbon bow. Factory imperfections: a small brown mark on her far cheek, a tiny brown indentation on her lip, and an occasional speckle. Signs of wear: nicks around one earring hole.
Body: Her original composition and wood 6-ball body is very heavy with thick straight wrists. The body has overall wear. The finish is entirely original with no signs of repair or repainting.
Clothes: She is fully dressed in all antique clothing, hat, socks, and shoes. She wears a very charming tan cotton/linen dress with a tiny red and green print, trimmed with a red stripe near the hem, red cording at the neck and sleeves, and a red silk sash at the waist. Underneath, she wears a full slip with cotton bodice and wool skirt, a knit undershirt, and cotton bloomers. She has knee-high cotton socks and black leather lace-up ankle boots. Her hat is a silk tam with a big silk tassel. Everything fits well and everything is in very good aged condition.
Domestic Buyers: Registered Mail is not offered in the Ruby Lane postage calculator, although it is very secure and probably a less expensive shipping option. I am happy to quote all of your available options.
International Buyers: My dolls are available for worldwide shipping. Insurance options vary by country of destination, so please contact me to discuss shipping and insurance options to your country.
