Tiny China Pair – Wood Bodies, Original Clothes,1840's, BIS Ribbon

Here is something really special! They are a pair of china dolls with jointed wooden bodies, circa 1840's. She is 4" tall and he measures 4.5". Their china shoulderheads and limbs are guaranteed to be without damage, and after 170 years, they are still wearing their original sewn-on clothing. They come with a Best in Show ribbon from the National Doll and Toy Collector's Club in 1974. Layaway is always an option. Please contact me to discuss terms. Here are their details:

Heads: They have pink tinted complexions and their painting is really great for such wee ones. She has a bun hairdo and he has deeply brush-stroked hair around his face. I have fully examined her shoulderplate and there is no damage. I have poked and prodded under and around his clothing to examine most of his shoulderplate and he is guaranteed to have no damage. Factory Imperfections: The lady has one teeny speckle under her eye and a flat spot in her hair above the bun, perhaps from a burst bubble. The man has some factory chipping (glazed over)on the back shoulderplate edge. Signs of Wear: None noted, they have been very well cared for over the years.

Bodies: They have the typical peg-jointed wooden bodies of the period. They have long porcelain arms and legs that are in perfect condition. The arms are pink tinted to match the heads. Both of her hands are open-palmed and one of his hands is closed. She has black painted slippers and he has red shoes and red painted bows below the knees.

Clothes: They are wearing their original clothing that is sewn-on and has probably never been removed. She wears an eyelet dress with silk overlay, black silk cape, slip and bloomers. He wears black wool pants, brown wool jacket, felt vest, and black silk scarf. The silk portions of her clothing are melting and his jacket has tears. For their age, it is exciting to find them in their original clothing.

Ribbons: They come with First Place and Best in Show ribbons, awarded at the 37th Annual National Doll and Toy Collector's Club in 1974.

International Customers: My dolls are available for worldwide shipping. Insurance options vary by country of destination, so please contact me to discuss shipping and insurance options to your country.
