Holding for A - 16" Jumeau Bebe, Marked M.7. - Stunning!

This doll was sold but no payment was ever received, so she is once again available for purchase. This gorgeous and unusual Jumeau Bebe was produced on special commission. She has perfect glowing bisque with exquisite painting. She retains her original composition and wood Jumeau body. She is wearing a charming costume, including a great antique hat and a superb antique mohair wig. She is a truly stunning bebe with such a unique face! Layaway is always an option. Please contact me to discuss terms. Here are the details:

Historical Note: The M dolls are discussed on pg 339 of F. Theimer's Jumeau Book. He states "The commissioned bebe marked "M" by Jumeau has characterized "tete" features of a refined quality." There were several stores that commissioned dolls from Jumeau to be made with their own markings, but it is unknown at this time what the M signifies. There are French Bebes marked M made by other firms, but it is easy to tell them apart since they are not marked with Jumeau's characteristic artist's checkmarks, and they do not have Jumeau bodies.

Head: Her bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. She is very pale with soft decoration - long lush lashes, perfectly executed brows, and pale lips with a darker center and delicate accents. She has beautiful blue paperweight human-like eyes, set in a very appealing long almond shape. She retains her original Jumeau neck coil, attaching her head and body. There are no signs of wear – mint condition. She has a short firing imperfection behind one ear – very common and entirely in the making. There is nothing else to report – this is an extremely fine bisque head. Her superb antique blond mohair wig is a long cascade of curls - it is gorgeous. She is marked M.7. along with the characteristic Jumeau checkmarks.

Body: She is on her original Jumeau composition and wood body. The body has been examined with both long-wave and short-wave UV light. Her hands have been repainted, one toe is repaired, and there is a dent at the neck socket. Except for her hands and toe, the remainder of the paint is original showing overall age wear and some paint flaking.

Clothing: She is wearing a lovely antique/vintage costume. She wears a beautiful old pink crepe dress with a wide lace collar and a matching sash. Underneath she wears an eyelet half-slip and a chemise with matching bloomers. She has antique brown leather shoes (wear) and nice antique stockings. She is wearing the most fabulous antique straw hat, woven in an intricate pattern and decorated with netting, lace, and flowers.
