This doll is so stunning! She has perfect bisque with a classic Jumeau-type face. She is fully dressed in the most wonderful antique four-piece gown, great antique bonnet, antique unders, and nice antique side buttons boots. Her original French lady body is very firm. Her unders have old hand-written names on them. Layaway is always an option. Please contact me to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: She has perfect pale bisque with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. She has a swivel neck and a kid-lined neck socket. In her closeup photo, it looks like she is missing some eyelashes, but this is just an illusion - they are all present. Her amazing paperweight eyes are the palest blue with a darker rim, and they are especially striking with her reddish-blond mohair wig. The wig is custom-made for her, with curly bangs and long flowing curls that are held in place with an antique barrette. She is marked 2 down in the neck socket. Her face has the unmistakably look of the classic Jumeau face of circa 1875. Examination: Her close-up is more than double life-size. If you look closely, there is a very tiny bisque bump on her cheek, some teeny speckles, and under bright light there is some very faint rubbing. These are very minor, and in person, not noticed on display. She is absolutely stunning and you will be thrilled to display her in your cabinet.
Body: I cannot remove her jacket because the sleeves are very tight, but I have pictured most of her body. Her original body is twill with leather arms in a typical French lady shape and style. It is extremely firm. There is a neatly sewn repair on the torso, otherwise the condition is superb.
Clothes: She is dressed in outstanding all-antique clothing. Her fabulous gown consists of four pieces – a waist-length jacket, a long full under-skirt, a pleated over-skirt, and a bustle-like pleated back piece. The bustle-like piece is sewn-on, the over-skirt ties in front, the full skirt is pinned in place, and the jacket has cloth-covered buttons. All pieces are entirely hand-stitched, and the gown is in overall excellent aged condition. Her bonnet has numerous rows of gathers and wires, and is decorated with paper flowers. There is wear to the pink silk lining. Underneath, she wears a chemise, a long half-slip, and long bloomers. The waistbands of the slip and bloomers have hand-written names on them – the slip says Mary Eva Clarke, and the bloomers say Mrs. Alice Mason 163 Haverhill. I do not know the significance of these names, but they may be her previous owners. Finally she wears knee-high silk stockings and nice leather side-button ankle boots with heels. They appear to be very sturdy, and have possibly not been removed, so I have left them in place.
