17" Swaine Character Baby, Marked DI with Green Stamp
Head: Her bisque is perfect with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. Factory imperfections: none. Signs of wear: just one teeny rub, so very slight that I only see it in direct sunlight. This is a gorgeous head of excellent quality. She has a solid dome and slightly molded hair. Her open/closed mouth has a generous opening and is painted a darker red than her lips. She looks as if she is about to speak. Her intaglio eyes are very deeply carved and are grayish-blue. She is marked DI / 6 / along with the Swaine green stamp. The stamp reads: Geschultzt Germany S & Co.
Body: Her original 5-piece bent-limb composition baby body retains all the original finish. There is overall age spotting, and the lower arms are darkened from being more exposed over the years. The body is sturdy and sound.
Clothes: She is fully dressed in nice clothing that was made for her. She wears an ornate gown liberally decorated with embroidery, insertion lace, and a lace-trimmed scalloped hemline. The bodice is lined with pink cotton. Underneath, she wears a half-slip with matching lace. Finally, she wears a two-piece romper-type garment. The bodice is trimmed along the shoulder straps with pink lace. It is wrap-around-style and closes on the side. The bottom piece closes with a drawstring on the same side.
