Harriet Flanders 1937 Compo 12" LITTLE CHERUB Baby A/O -- Superb!!

...Oh My~ what an ADORABLE and RARE little doll baby... this is a 1937 all composition LITTLE CHERUB doll... and she is absolutely incredible. She stands just 12" -- perfect cabinet-sized doll and a prize for any collector of composition dolls.

Manufactured by the Averill Doll Company which was started by Georgene Averill of the 'Madame Hendren' line of dolls, this exceptionally darling baby was designed by an employee of Averill... Harriet Flanders. Harriet originally wrote a book entitled "Little Cherub" and the doll was subsequently designed to accompany the book. Very few of these little ones were made, and fewer still have survived well over the years. She is petite at 12" from head to toe and is in MINT condition. She is appropriately marked on the nape of her neck "Harriet Flanders / 1937". This is a beautiful example of this very special doll, and she is presented to you ALL ORIGINAL with all ORIGINAL CLOTHING.

I have always loved this little doll, because of her story -- her impish flirty glance is endearing to the heart, wouldn't you say? I had to look a long time for such a nice Cherub doll to come my way and she does me proud! this is the 3rd one I have managed to join my personal collection, and I am letting her go because I recently obtained her 'twin'. Doll herself is ALL ORIGINAL, has been cleaned and has only very faint intermittent craze lines, that are so light they barely show in my photos. All painted features are completely intact. Only some light wear to her paint at the joints; two tiny separations in the paint at the back of one upper leg and back of one arm; no lifting at all. She is strung firmly to pose and stand on her own. Cherub's head rotates on the neck flange easily, allowing you to place her in an 'infinite' variety of poses... really makes her little personality shine. Her body has bent arms and toddler legs -- Beautiful original coloring -- sweet blush still shines at her knees, tops of hands, back of elbows, chest, and cheeks -- and pink fleshtone lend this little sweetie pie all the desirable characteristics of a highly collectible doll... truly a fabulous find for those who love composition dolls.

One LOVELY feature on this doll is her side-glancing painted eyes. These dolls were issued with painted eyes as well as open/close glassene sleep eyes. Notice the pupils of this little angel are blue and are HEART-shaped... just another sweet detail to endear you to this doll who truly is a CHERUB!

I have included many photos for your assessment of this sweetest of baby girls -- my close ups of her are a good representation of her condition... simply superb! Adorable face!

Beautiful blonde molded and painted hair is perfect. Darling little 'clumps' of sunny yellow color array in a burst around her little head... like a halo for the little angel she is!

She wears her original outfit -- yellow felt circle skating skirt, green 'onesie', pink jacket tied with a little bit of yellow wool yarn, and a darling hat with daisy flower appliques and yarn 'hair' at the sides to enhance her dramatic and adorable looks. Wool felting is in mint condition with no fading or wear. She is colored like a brightly (and cheerful) painted Easter egg! Original rayon socks and oilcloth skates with gold laces to match her skating skirt... adorable, adorable, ADORABLE!

She is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION and here is an opportunity to make her purchase -- ALL ORIGINAL.

You can see Little Cherub highlighted in Ursula Mertz' books on composition dolls... WOW!
