Rare 1912 Tennis tournament medal awarded a gentleman named F.Preis from the Esperanto language club.
Esperanto is a language introduced in 1887 by Dr. L.L. Zamenhof after years of development. He proposed Esperanto as a second language that would allow people who speak different native languages to communicate, yet at the same time retain their own languages and cultural identities. Esperanto doesn't replace anyone's language but simply serves as a common second language.
The medal measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/4 inch in diamond shape and is likely some grade of rolled gold or other.
A very scarce item from the height of this movement to teach an international common ground language.
