c.1830's Museum Quality New York Miniature Portrait on Ivory

This is another superb miniature portrait on ivory we are honored to handle. The painting on fine wafer shows a young American gentleman in his 20's.

There is a strong artist signature and date that is difficult to fully make out due to the beveled glass edge that dilutes it's clarity. The signature appears to be A.Xing 1830 ? or H.Xiny ?

If the copper back was removed the mystery would be solved in a New York minute. I'm always too timid to do so myself without fear of damaging the piece.

The brooch comes in a 19th c. period Ernest E.Muller Malone,New York Jewelers Case. This is the case this brooch has been in since that time and was clearly made to hold the piece.

The brooch itself measures 1 3/4" wide and 2 inches tall and is in excellent condition.

Rare American signed miniature that are nearly impossible to find.
