1855 Virginia Plantation Oil Painting of Antebellum Lady in Court Frame

This painting was purchased from the previous owner in the 1970's from the Warren family of Virginia. They purchased this piece for their collection with the provenance it came from a Virginia plantation.

The painting on fine canvas was masterfully done by a currently unknown artist. The artist combined fluid handling with careful depiction and character analysis of this lady.

In turn capturing her inner essence.

She is housed in it's fabulous original untouched hand carved court frame.

The lady who was likely the matriarch of the family, strikes a familiar look that I have yet to identify. She certainly defines the antebellum period she lived in.

Offered for the first time to the public in decades. With the frame this museum piece measures 34 x 38 inches.
