1860 American Folk Art Watercolor Signed Painting of Dapper Dan

Delightful c.1860 watercolor of an amusing and interesting lanky gentleman dressed in his Sunday's best.

His long hair and bushy beard gives of a clue he was a Mountain Man who struck it rich in the hills with fur trading or gold nugget panning.

And was now looking for a wife playing the part of the sophisticated gentleman.

As an old friend once told me you can put earrings on a hog and it's still a hog.

The painting is signed (Orvelli) and still retains it's original 12 x 15" inch frame.
