Late 19th century photo album from an affluent Hyattstown,Maryland family. I believe the primary family name was Layton. Nearly all the photographs which total around 250 images have some notation or identification on the verso. There are many, many fine photographs of an apparent social bicycle club, recreational outings, and vacations, points of geographical interest, farming scenes, General Store of R.H.Bowman of Hyattstown,railroad stations,trains,lighthouses,Sports,Bathing,Leisure time and so forth. There are a number of images of an African-American family identified as examples of "Colored People of Hyattstown." In one particular photograph there is an image of an elderly ex-slave named William Parker.

Some of the identified persons are: G.A.Darly & Darly Mills Of Hyattstown,Maryland Garona Layton of Frederick,Maryland, Professor Little, Identified Actor Maurice Freeman, Captain Bam, Julius Combs,Harry Layton,and a host of others.
