Early & Interesting Book Plates

Fine grouping of early and interesting book plates including a Tiffany & Company produced engraving for Edward Hugh & Julia Marlowe Sothern famed actors. Their book plate was made by Tiffany & Company. There are book plates from the Timberline Lodge with Franklin Delano Roosevelt on lower banner, Author's Club Library plate, Betts Family of Long Island,N.Y. and a rare Angling plate showing a leaping Tarpon in center with the Dexter side showing a Tarpon rod, reel and line. On the edge of the Corner, Walton's Complete Angler, in 1653, and an open copy of the Ichthyologia Ohiensis of Rafinesque,1820. In addition an early book plate from James Agnew,Esq. that states from translation of Latin to English; "By counsel, not by Force" and a late 18th century book plate from the Hamilton Family. In conclusion a 20TH century book plate from the Boston University Libraries which states Caricature of J.B.Priestley from the Jack Rosen collection.
