William & Jessie Lunt, 42pp diary (log book) and of narrative, notes, and accounts.
On June 13th, 1888, 42 Mr. & Mrs. William & Jessie Lunt departed Boston to New York and with a well trained crew aboard the ship S.S. Oceanic of the Shanghai Steam Navigation Company, bound for China on a long, slow but eventful voyage, arriving in Shanghai.
The diary is basically well written and describes her thoughts on the Chinese, Seeing Whales, and various other topics that are quite interesting. She has even sketched the ship she and her husband sailed on which was the S.S.Oceanic, In addition an amusing sketch of her "back side" exercising by an old man aboard the ship.
William Lunt was an officer and employee with the Shanghai Steam Navigation Company and a large Certificate of Service comes with this outstanding grouping.
There are two Cabinet styled photographs included in this lot showing Mr.Lunt in the cabin of the S.S.Oceanic during this voyage and a portrait taken in March of 1883.
In conclusion an interesting and historical lot of a the Shanghai Steam Navigational Company that one rarely finds material on.
