Early 1982 IBM Award Plaque For the Development of the Internet

An early and interesting award plaque presented to IBM Executive E.M.Smith for the developing the "New Information Network", which we now know as the Internet. IBM had the technology right in the palm of the hands and let it slip away. This metal plaque on Lucite is dated February 2nd 1982 and measures 5 ¼" x 7 inches. The award plaque is has a Facsimile signature from IBM General Manager J.M.Hewit.

Finding early technology artifacts/memorabilia is very difficult and this piece is a treasure.
