Superb c.1840 Dresden,Germany Miniature Portraits of Mother & Daughter w/Lock of Hair
This is a fabulous pair of miniature portrait's of mother and child on ivory signed M.Krantz Dresden,Germany. These beautiful portraits have a soft impressionistic appeal that is distinctive to Krantz. The delicate brushwork creates the effect of a painting lost in a dream. The mother and child's features are carefully rendered, with highlights setting off their lovely hair and eyes. Behind the mother's portrait is a lock of golden blonde hair from the child. The paintings are housed in a 3 ¼” x 4 inch oval forest green push button leather case. Each little masterpiece is 2 ½” x 3 inches of perfection.
