18th C. Miniature Portraits on Ivory of Virginia Military Father & Daughter

Fresh from an estate in Virgina are these two magnificent miniature portraits on ivory of a father and daughter. Each portrait is housed in a gorgeous cobalt blue and gold pendant with the hair of both father and daughter beautifully woven behind each portrait. As you can see the glass has broken on the portrait of the father though does not touch or effect the portrait itself. On the verso there is also a crack in the cobalt blue glass. The portrait of the young girl is truly spectacular in design and quality and is 14kt. gold. Her initials of H.B. have slid from it's original center placement.

She measures with hanger at 2" 1/2 x 3 inches and the father 2" 1/8 x 3 inches. Name of family will come with purchase.

These date from the 1770's and is quite remarkable they have survived through a English Army house burning during the Revolution War and multiple other encounters with time and faint.
