Quality American c.1840’s Miniature portrait of a Southern Belle from a plantation was known as Inverness in Virginia. I bought this miniature from a wonderful gentleman who collected the finest miniature portraits on planet earth. And this example was in his collection. This particular painting is done in oils as opposed to watercolor and is on heavy piece of ivory or board. It is housed in a one-sixth plate Boston styled ebony daguerreotype push button case.
No attribution was given to the artist or subject. Both however deserve a bow.
