1861 Clinton,Mississippi Alabama Civil War Letter GREAT CONTENT

Historically important three and one half page letter written originally in Clinton,Mississippi on March 25th 1861.Writer is one D.M.Warton corresponding to his niece in Alabama. Part of this letter reads:( "We are still kept in suspense, whether ther withdrawal of the seven southern states from the union will lead to Civil War,or not. Neither side can gain anything by war,If forced into it it can only be to gratify a ....? hatred of slavery which is that horrid sin, which the north pretends to believe and we are such brutal & savage sinners...one would suppose those prrritaniced? farratics so far from wishing to force us from the Union, would be glad to get rid of us!)

The letter continues about the writer stating: 'The Yanks may give us much trouble but we will force them back and welcome them to hospitable graves from our bloody hands if they invade our soil.'

Warton also speaks of his family in Alabama that does not contain any damn Abolitionist,Black Republicans or Black Sheep among them !!!

It is a great, great letter. This letter may be a period copy by a family member or an original. Hard to tell. It is exceptional no matter what.
