This small oval china dish has sweet violets on it. I have seen this pattern called Spring violet on many plates but never on a dish like this. I suspect it is a sugar for this set but do not know for sure. There are no marks of identification on it. The oval cover has a cream colored oval knob. The cover is about 4 inches long and the edge has gold leaves with berries going around it. The gold appears to be intact. The oval opening on the bowl has a very defined lip on it that the cover sets in. The bowl is 3 inches tall and has the same leaves and berries at the top side of the dish. Below that a ¾ inch band of scrolls and leaves in gold go around the bowl. Right below that are three large leaves and ten violets with numerous stems. Looking inside this piece there is a darkened discoloration about a ½ inch that we suspect is a manufacturer flaw. As you can see in the picture this piece is very crackled but I felt it was a unique enough piece we would still put it in our shop. This piece weighs 2 pounds. It still is just a pretty piece to add to your set or to just place in a special room for trinkets.
