You know of him. You love his works.
This set of multicolored prints bears the proper title of, “Audubon: Fifty Selections with Commentaries by Roger Tory Peterson.” It was published by “The Macmillan Company,” we believe during the mid-20th century.
Each U.S. printed tribute bears the name of the species on the front, bottom- center; and, it provides information about the creature on the back.
The 12” x 9” heavy-stock pages are primarily set as vertical pictures, though there are a few horizontal images. All are fit for framing and “classing up” any room.
While the cover promises 50 avian specimens to drool over, we can only provide 47 of them. Please don’t ask us which ones are missing, as we have no list of contents.
Condition of Prints range from Very Good to Fine—some are age-browned a tiny bit more than others, one has a creased margin and one has a manufacturer’s flaw of a beak outlined near the margin (see picture). The Folio’s condition is Good—some pencil writing by the cover’s left edge, center; the interior, cardboard tray has edge splits, causing it to bend outwards.
We have taken just a selection of pictures. They are all different. What a fantastic collection.
If you love birds then at this price you are paying less than $5 a print. Where can you get beautiful old prints for less than that?
