Stunning RS Prussia Porcelain Shaving Mug

This old shaving mug is simply gorgeous. Made of fine translucent white porcelain with baby blue accents and a lovely floral design in shades of burnt orange, yellow, purple and green. This has been hand painted over a transfer in a method termed 'mixtion' and further embellished with applied white enameling outlining the blossoms. There is a more demure pattern of yellow and purple flowers on the back. The pie crust rim and ornate handle are trimmed in gold. Some of this has worn off over the years.

Dates to 1898 and was featured in the Falker and Stern Fall catalog from that year. It is mold OM30 pattern OT5. This information was found in "R.S.Prussia: The Early Years" by Marples, page 65-66.

In perfect condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing. There is some wear to the gold trim.
