Fabulous old Chinese "saddle cover" or blanket, actually an Oriental rug from China of fine quality with fairly deep pile and in very good condition. You see hole in the rug, through which it would be attached to the saddle or other hardware on the horse. The back has a cotton fabric lining. We see a seam in the center of the rug, and we think there may have originally been an "ugly" section there that went actually under the saddle, which was removed for this piece to be used as a rug, or possibly this was an original seam. It measures 4'6" by 1' 10". The colors are rich with little fading; this has had very good care from the past owners, and no aromas either. We acquired this from one of the finest Oriental rug dealers in the country. One end of the rug may look a little darker than the other, that is only our lighting.
