Offering for sale a fabulous and older pastel painting of Jesus and His Sacred Heart, artist unknown. We believe this to be an original pastel painting, we opened a few inches of the backing at the top and saw tiny dust of the pastel paint on the inside of the glass, typical of older pastels that have been framed under glass for a long time. We also had an art dealer examine it from the small top opening as well as with magnification through the glass with the same conclusion; although to be 100% sure it would need to be removed from the glass and frame. For the reason of protecting the artwork, we have not opened this for further inspection, as removing the art from the glass could disturb the artwork, and it is framed so beautifully there is no need for re-framing. We do not see a signature, there could be one on the back of the work inside or tiny in a corner hidden by the frame, although unlikely. We do know this has been under this glass for quite a while. It is slightly different enough in many ways from the other Jesus Sacred Heart prints we see so much, and we have not been able to find this exact image anywhere; further indicated an original work of art. Since we do not know the artist of history of this piece, and can not open it up for examination, we have priced it accordingly, as original pastels of this artistic quality would sell for three time this much or more. This measures 29" by 34" framed, with the exposed art size 21" by 26". The pastel is under non-glare glass and in a fabulous old gold frame with ornate decorations.
