Virgin Mary Our Lady Lourdes Marble Medals & Crucifix Altar House Blessing Icon
Offering for sale a very rare home altar or house blessing Icon for the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes and Jesus. This is a green onyx or marble curved plaque, mounted on the original brass backing with back stand, 10 & 3/4" wide by 7" tall. In the center a bronze or similar metal crucifix with ornate metalwork on the cross and beautiful Corpus of Jesus Christ. To each side are large medals or medallions of silver over bronze,?, not sure of the metal content, but fine metal to be sure. On the right a stunning figure of the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes with a small scene of the apparition, a crucifix and "N.D. de Lourdes" at the top. This medal is signed by the artist, we think it is GV. To the left is a wonderfully detailed medal of the apparition to Saint Bernadette in the grotto; the Virgin Mary is standing on roses and around her head a halo with the words "Je Suis Immaculate Concepion". Each medal is 2 & 3/4" across; and the crucifix is 4 & 1/4" tall by 2 & 3/4" wide. There are a few very small chips or bruises on the edges of the marble or onyx. All three items securely screw mounted, original easel back sturdy as well. A truly beautiful piece.
