Offering for sale an old handmade devotional reliquary, probably made by Nuns or Religious Sisters. It contains an Agnus Dei, usually a small piece of wax that has been saved from the blessed candles used in the Vatican or other official service, a tradition unfortunately long gone. Large Agnus Dei discs were distributed, usually each seven years, and many were cut up into small pieces and enclosed in lockets or fabric containers for the faithful. This one is enclosed in a heavy cardboard or similar material, with the front hand painted and open circle in the center revealing the blessed wax, and on the back is hand lettered "Agnus Dei". It has a small hand tied hanging loop on top. It measures 1" across and is six sided; and is in good condition with only the slightest fading from age on the front and on the back slight soiling where it has been fondled in prayer for many years..
