Lovely old reliquary locket, of a silver finish metal, not sure of the metal content, but beautiful metalwork on front and back and has a fine patina. Inside a label for Saint Joseph Cupertino, hand lettered and attached to a piece of cloth. Believed to be a second class relic; we acquired this from a fine collector of reliquary many years ago after we became fascinated by this particular Catholic Saint. Cupertino, also spelled Copertino, technically Joseph of Cupertino, would go into trances or ecstasy upon hearing Church bells, music, the name of God, etc, and often would levitate in the air. For this reason he is the patron Saint of paratroopers, pilots, air travel, astronauts. This reliquary was intended to be worn, and probably originally owned by someone who wore this in flight. It is in lovely condition, and a rare item to find. The locket measures 7/8" tall including the decorative loop on the top. This reliquary is sacred and should be worn or displayed with reverence. Please do not purchase this unless willing to do so. The sacred relic is a gift with the purchase of the reliquary.
