Rare to find reliquary for Saint Joseph Of Cupertino. This reliquary is quite old, with substantial relic appearing to be ex ossibus, hand written label "b. Joseph 'a Cup", indicating this was prepared before his canonization in 1767 as he is addresses as B for Blessed, from his Beatification in 1753. There are decorative paperwork, called paperolles and wire work inside; as the Sisters that prepared these reliquaries wanted them to be lovely for viewing. It is under glass in a silver tone metal reliquary with the official red seal and threads on the back. It has a bump on the top which probably originall had a loop for hanging. This reliquary measures 1 & 1/8" by 1" and is in good condition. St Joseph of Cupertino was often called the flying friar, as he would levitate and float and reportedly could hear heavenly music. He is the patron Saint of air travelers, pilots, astronauts, paratroopers, etc as well as students. This reliquary came to us from another collector and has been loved in our personal collection for many years with good care. Please do not purchase this unless you are willing to display it with the respect due any religious item especially that of a Saint.
