This is an old paper folded reliquary for Saint Mary Magdalen de Pazzi. She became a Carmelite at age 16 and was considered a mystic, healer and miracle worker. She was canonized in 1669. She is patron Saint for protection from illness and healing and also sexual temptation. Please not this is not the same Mary Magdalen of the crucifixion era. This reliquary came to us in a box of many similar pieces from a French convent, where they were stored waiting to be given out of placed in larger more permanent reliquaries. It has not seal and is folded. It is labeled "Farina Molt. Da S. M. Madd. de' Pazzi". There is a powdered substance inside, we can not get a complete translation as the word "molt" has a period and is an abbreviated word, but out guess is that it is ashes. The box containing all these is labeled "Ste Madelaine de pazzi, Vierge, authentique", as the French sisters would have had each of their boxes of relics labeled for their use. Box not included of course. The folded paper reliquary measures 2 & 1/4" by 1" and in good condition, having been in our personal collection and good care since arriving from France.
