Old paper reliquary for Marie-Joseph Cassant, a Cisterian monk of the Abbey of Sainte-Marie-du-Desert , beatified by Pope John Paul II on Oct 3, 2004. This reliquary was prepared long before his beatification as he is not addressed as Blessed on the title. Since 1903 more than 2000 people from over 25 countries have attested to blessings received by his intercession on their behalf. His canonization is still pending. If acquiring this reliquary, any cures or other intercessions should be reported to the Vatican, the address available on the internet, as this Blessed has a very large following. The Paper reliquary, never opened, measures 1 & 1/2" by 1". On the front in French: "Terre detachee des ossements du Serviteur de Dieu marie-Joseph Cassant lors de son exhumation 23 Juin 1931. On the back the official seal of the Abbey. Due to his popularity, it is very hard to find any reliquary of this Saint at all; this is the only one we could find for our collection at the time.
