One of the most unusual necklaces we ever found, featuring a center slide of an assumed coral cameo surrounded by gold filled metalwork leaves, faux pearls and a background of blue enamel, from which drapes lovely tassels that match the chains, just magnificent. It slides on a bed of 13 chains believed to be original to the slide, each side ending in a bar with more faux pearl and fine metalwork. Each side is then attached to a nice watch chain with back closure. The center slide measures 1 & 1/8" wide and is 2 & 1/4' long including the tassels. The area of the necklace including the chains and end bars measures 6 & 3/4" long, and the total measurement around the necklace is 16 & 1/2" long. The center part of this necklace reminds me of bracelets I have seen in the past, and my guess is that this may have started out as a slide bracelet and the original owner had a jeweler create this using a fine matching watch chain but this is only a guess and it may be indeed all original. The metal is fine shiny gold with lovely antique patina, probably gold filled and in very good condition. We acquired this from a collector of cameos, she had only the finest items worthy of being in a museum.
