Old Shell Cameo Brooch In Sterling Silver Mounting Fine Jewelry

Lovely old cameo carved of fine shell, in a nice sterling silver mounting. The cameo features a very elegant lady with bouffant hairdo and flowers on her bodice. The cameo is set in a nice marked sterling silver mounting original to the cameo with nice filigree metalwork. Surrounding the cameo is a border of old faux seed pearls, some of which have had their lustre worn off, but still a nice touch and again believed to be original to the piece. The sterling silver mounting is nice quality and heavy. The brooch measures 1 & 5/8" by 1 & 1/4" and the shell carving and mounting are in very good condition. The last photo shows the cameo held up to lighting to show the quality of the material.
