French MOP Mother Of Pearl & Silver Antique Crucifix Cross
Fabulous antique crucifix from France; lustrous MOP, mother of pearl cross carved in the round, all one piece; with the four ends capped with fine silver crowns, just gorgeous. In the center of course a beautiful silver Corpus of Christ. We are assuming the silver tone metal parts are a typical French silver colored "pot" metal, but we also have had some in the past that were unmarked sterling; this piece is unmarked so we assume it is not. It will however polish to a nice shine; we choose not to polish this at all as many of our customers like their silver items with the patina. The cross measures 3 & 1/4" tall by 2" wide; the Corpus is 1 & 1/8" tall. This extraordinary crucifix is in very good condition with mild age wear only, from the 1800's.
