Lovely 1872 edition of The Complete Works Of John Bunyan, with an introduction by Rev. John P. Gulliver, illustrated edition, published by Bradley Garetson & Do, Philadelphia, deep maroon brown leather binding with deep embossed designs and gold gilt decorations and title on front, back and spine. In good overall condition, with wear on the cover as expected, see photos, and some separation between copyright page and introduction, again no surprise as this is one of those antique books very heavy for the size, the cover bindings weighing probably more than the pages themselves, but book is still intact, may have had a reinforcement in the past. Book measures approximately 7" by 10" and is 2 & 1/2" thick. Facsimile will of Bunyan inside front cover, partially separated from book but both pages complete (also a common occurence for this specific book). Some age darkening on the pages, foxing mostly on the illustration pages, mainly on the borders surrounding the illustrations; each illustration has a tissue over it for protection as well. Great book to read and for collectors, but also the engravings are worthy of framing if one dared to take this lovely book apart. 1015 pages. Gold gilt exterior page edges still shiny. Please note wear, not a pristine book by any means, but still in good condition and a rare find. Front cover lovely enough to display this on a stand. Engravings by A. B. Walter, possibly others.
