Just the most fabulous old creamer sets of fine silver plate we ever had, all marked for James W Tufts of Boston, quadruple plate, warranted, style #2221 marked on all, original set of three pieces, including the creamer, sugar and waste. Fabulous design, with leaves and swirls on all sides, ornate handles with winged serpents or dragons with fabulous heads, and on the large creamer or syrup the spout is a mythological face, just can't get any better than this! Although from Boston, circa 1890's, this set just screams English in design and we have not been able to find another piece with this style number anywhere at all for reference, meaning it is quite rare to find and they probably did not make many of these. The creamer is quite large, measuring 7 & 7/8" tall at the tip of the serpent head and 6" tall at the spout. Both the other pieces are 5 & 7/8" tall at the serpent head. The creamer and one of the other pieces has a very geometrically scalloped top edge, but the third piece has a flat top edge, indicating there might have been a lid, but further thought is that this piece was intended to be the waste, as not only does it have the plain top but also a plain design foot compared to the other two piece with the elegant fluted foot design. At least this is our thought on this issue, as we know it is an original set due to the stock number matching on all three pieces. The silver plate is of the finest weight and quality, in good condition, old lovely patina, we lightly polished this with a cloth only for the photos. No repairs that we can see. Our belief is that this is a fairly rare to find design and important.
