Rare and lovely antique tilting water pitcher on original stand, marked for Middletown Silverplate Co, Quadruple Plate, Hard White Metal, so marked on bottom of both the pitcher and the stand. On the front of the pitcher is engraved "Mother Nov 12, 1881". The pitcher has lovely engraved designs and amazingly has a fairly clean interior; signs of age of course, but not the pitting or other damage we usually find in these old pieces. The exterior of the pitcher has not been polished, we shined up a little of it, but will leave further work to the purchaser, as so many collectors do not like things cleaned. The stand has less tarnish then the pitcher, and the border designs on the bottom of the stand matches the center border on the pitcher. The overall height of the stand is 18 & 1/2" and the pitcher is 11" tall. There are still remnants of some old polish on the knobs, etc. We have done no cleaning. Very beautiful item even if you don't choose to use it, but we think this one in very usable condition as well. My mom had a similar one of these when I was a young child, and although she rarely used it, it was a beautiful centerpiece on the buffet. This piece is in good condition, but due to age may not polish to a high shine, as with any antique silver it may require re-plating if a high shine is a necessity for your use.
