Beautiful and rare antique "paisley shawl", a fine weaving for a throw or tapestry, worn in old times as an actual shawl. This is the first one we ever had with the ivory white center and lighter colors. It features the cream center, with maroon, blue, pink, green, bronze; and is 62" by 124". It is of wool with possibly silk. There is one small hole and two tiny ones in the cream center, see photos, and a few small ones in the paisley areas . The paisleys , boteh and other designs surrounding the center appear to be done by hand with the Kashmir stitch, but we just are not sure of the country of provenance, it could be European and also could be a very fine machine woven feature. The bulk of the shawl is definitely a very fine machine weaving. Truly beautiful colors and a great large size. The last photo is of the back side of the shawl.
