What a fabulous pair of antique andirons or fire dogs from England! These are English Arts & Crafts / Art Nouveau transitional , earlier than the American style period, in fine soft bronze with a high copper content. This set is in very good condition, with mild wear from age, but not as much as expected; often these smaller andirons were used to support the fireplace tools and not always inside the fireplace holding the log. We find no signature on these, but were surely made by one of the finer makers in England. We love the elegant yet simple lines, and the near heart shapes, a popular theme in that era, especially for fireplace items. Each one is 12 & 1/2" tall and 8" front to back
