Antique English Rosewood Tea Caddy With MOP Inlay
Beautiful antique tea caddy from England, fine English rosewood with lustrous inlaid mop, mother of pearl on the top areas, sides of the top and front plus escutcheon, just a fabulous box! The wood has a rich patina. We love the casket shape of the box as well, plus the animal feet. Inside the lids on the side compartments are present, the center glass is long gone of course. This rare and wonderful piece measures 13" by 7" and is 8" tall at the center top. It is in good structural condition with some cracks on the wood veneer at the side top, a few mop missing small pieces, a few hairlines here and there. Notice also the wonderful shaped handles on each side, which echo the shape of the feet. Key is long gone.
