Antique Papier Mache Portrait Plate 19th Century Fine Decorative Paper Mache Art

Offering for sale a lovely antique decorative plate or dish circa 1890 or earlier, of papier mache. It is a rare to find and beautiful portrait plate ! The plate is gently curved, black background color with gently scalloped edges and gold painted scallops. IN the center is a portrait cameo of a lovely lady in what looks like Middle Eastern attire; this leads us to believe this was an English piece with India influence. I am assuming the portrait cameo is applied, a fine print applied like a decal and then glazed over ; this was done on a lot of the old paper mache items. This lovely piece measures 6 & 1/2" across and is in very good condition with no cracks or repairs.There is a small ding on the top which looks like a chip which may have been repainted, and on the underside we see the common surface cracks as expected on old papier mache, but only a few; it is really in very nice condition.
