Nippon Red Mark Hand Painted Floral and Raised Gold Gilding Compote or Pedestal Bowl
This is a beautiful hand painted Nippon compote or pedestal bowl. It has lovely green stylized green flowers and raised gold leaves around the rim. The handles are gold gilded. It bears the exporter's mark on the bottom. It is a red M within a red wreath and the words "hand painted, Nippon". The Morimura brothers who exported porcelain to the United States used this mark from around 1891 to 1921. This bowl dates to around 1920.
