This is a fabulous antique Aesthetic Movement brown transferware platter by Ridgways in the Beaufort pattern. It measures approximately 18 ½” in length and 14” in width. It is marked on the back “Royal Semi-Porcelain, Ridgways, Beaufort, England, R. No. 146326”. There is also an impress mark. The plate has scalloped edges and a floral, scroll and leaf border. The center is undecorated. It is a simple and elegant pattern. The platter dates to around 1890. The condition of the platter is fair. There are light knife marks and light crazing. There is slight staining on the back of the plate. There are no chips but there is a large crack that is not easy to see. The crack is about four inches long. The crack runs from the edge into the platter but you can’t feel it.
