Deep lavender amethyst, forest green aventurine, and a carved face of deep serenity. The combination of these elements results in a necklace of singular beauty.
A silver garland of leaves and grapevines drapes the forehead of a tranquil face carved from bone and wrapped in a 925 silver bezel. The face, with its closed eyes and the hint of a smile, exudes a sense of tranquility. Pairs of leaves carved from green aventurine lead away from the pendant to trios of faceted deep violet amethyst. The leaves and the amethyst are separated by silver plated beads embellished with swirls of tiny dots, giving the impression of garlands of grapes. I chose the deep lavender amethyst gemstones to emulate grapes and compliment the grapevine design of the pendant.
Small zoisite beads, silver spacers, and tiny silver corrugated beads are interspersed throughout, and a trio of purple tourmaline leads to the toggle. The toggle design includes a lovely silver plate grape leaf and a grapevine bar. The necklace measures 22 inches in length, and the moon-shaped pendant measures 2 inches by 1 ¼ inches including the bail. The matching earrings are comprised of a silver daisy base, a faceted amethyst bead, a tiny zoisite bead, and a green aventurine leaf. The earrings hang from sterling silver French-style earwires and measure 1 ½ inches from the piercing.
This necklace would certainly be in keeping with an evening of candlelight, wine and roses. The sense of serenity captured in the carving of the pendant also lends itself to occasions where you wish to walk in tranquility.
Interestingly, the ancient Greeks believed that amethyst would protect the wearer against becoming drunk. Other cultures believed amethyst to be a grounding stone, balancing high energy and reducing chaos. Amethyst is the birthstone for February. It is thought that aventurine brings inner peace and increases confidence.
Please Note: The necklaces I create are one of a kind designs. The gemstones I used in this necklace are natural, and both the amethyst and the aventurine are hand-cut. As such there may be anomalies in shape, size, and color. Some amethyst does lose color if exposed to sunlight for a lengthy period, so keep the necklace tucked away when not in use.
