Earrings of Tiny Glass Ears of Corn with Niobium Earwires

I don't mean to sound corny here, but these tiny ears of corn are ripe for the wearing! With a combination of Niobium and glass, these earrings have a completely fresh look. Not only that, but Niobium is hypoallergenic. The ears of corn were created from yellow glass with tiny dots of glass for kernels and a bit of green at the top for the husks. The glass loop of each ear of corn has been caught in a green Niobium jump ring which is attached to the green Niobium French-style ear wire.

The ears of corn measure 5/8 of an inch, and the earrings measure 1 1/8 inches from the piercing of the ear wire.

Here is your opportunity to be a little corny!

Niobium is both a rare and a wonderful element. A beautiful range of colors can be created by anodizing the metal, and because the element has such low toxicity, it is widely used in medicine such as in pace-makers. And in jewelry, of course! The name Niobium comes from Niobe who was daughter of Tantalus in Greek mythology.

Please note: Because the loops on the ears of corn are glass, care should be taken because they are somewhat fragile.
