Vintage Yellow Primrose Demitasse Cup and Saucer by Gladstone Bone China

The Primrose pattern is yellow with green leaves and highlights, and the center of each Primrose has a tiny bright red center. The cup has a Countess shape with budding Primroses circling the base of the teacup and the center of the saucer. Single Primrose blossoms circle the center, and pairs of Primroses circle the outer edge of both cup and saucer. One pair of Primroses decorates the inside edge, visible to the right-handed drinker. The rims of both cup and saucer are very slightly scalloped, and gold edging is on the rims, the base of the cup, the center of the saucer, and the edges of the handle.

The cup measures 2 3/8 inches high and 2 ½ inches in diameter with the saucer measuring 4 ¾ inches in diameter. This sweet little cup and saucer set is in beautiful condition with no cracks, chips, fleabites, or crazing. The detailed backstamp first identifies the Primrose pattern with a tiny illustration of the Primrose. The name Gladstone appears above a crown framed by the words Bone China, and below that is says Made in England followed by the registration number 837510. The name Gladstone was used by Thos Poole & Gladstone China Ltd. between 1952 and 1970. This cheerful demitasse cup and saucer is like holding a cup full of sunshine!
