Offered is a rare and hard to find antique BF&Co Dragon necklace with beautiful luminous jadite colored spun Czech glass beads.
I've collected BF&Co jewelry thru the years but have not been able to find out anything about the company. Their jewelry dates to the early 1900s, 1910 to about 1930. They mainly made necklaces .... I've only found one bracelet in all my searching. Many of the necklaces feature dragons and mythical beasts, oriental themes, art nouveau and some egyptian revival. I've seen 2 necklaces that feature porcelain lady portrait medallions combined with old Czechoslovakia lampwork art glass beads, if you do a search on the internet you can view one of these necklaces. There is also currently a pendent on eby featuring a monkey with a 600.00 price tag.
This is a large necklace and features luminous jade colored spun glass beads. The pendant is very art nouveau with two dragons fighting and flowers on each side. There is a line thru the stone in the pendant, this is not a crack, just swirl in the glass, smooth to the touch and you can see the pattern in the glass on the back of the pendant.
Necklace measures about 26" around wearable length and then hangs down 5" at the drop. It is heavy and well made. The finish was originally silver tone but the brass beneath has worn thru giving it a pale gold finish ... that is pretty common with these very old BF&co pieces. These necklaces are heavy and well made, meant to be worn and loved.
Necklace is in very good vintage condition with no damage. Green glass is just gorgeous. Necklace is clearly marked on the back. Please email with any questions.
