Original glass sculpture by Oregon glass artist, Andy Nichols. This is one of his larger sculptures, measuring 16" long, approximately 8" high and 5" across. The salmon is realistic, but also an artistic interpretation of the fish designed with abstract colors and patterns, which give a sense of life and dynamic motion.
The glass in multi-layered, incorporating elements of color and metallic highlights. One can nearly feel reflections of sunlight, shadows of seaweed and the fluid motion of water over the salmon's body. The artist has captured the sinuous motion of the body and the fish is balanced on the posterior ventral fins, so it appears to be swimming through the air.
Condition is perfect. It is signed "Nichols Art Glass 2007".
