Goss Stoneware Country Harvest Beanpot or Covered Pitcher with Lid

This bean pot or casserole is 5" high, and 6" in diameter in the Country Harvest pattern, circa 1975.. It has a spout, handle and lid, and the Goss literature calls this design a beanpot. It is oven-proof, (as are all Goss stoneware baking pieces) and is lined with a brown glaze.

The beanpot is in very good condition, with mild wear on the base. There are no chips, cracks or damages.

The pattern has a country design of fruit- apples, grapes and pears on a taupe or beige background. The finish is smooth matte rather than glossy, and blends well with primitive, country or early American decor. The pot is from Pennsylvania farm country, and has been in storage for years.

I have other pieces in this pattern, and am always happy to combine orders to reduce shipping.

Goss Stoneware was made in Chatham NJ in the 1950's. In 1964, they became known as Chatham pottery. They moved their studio to Kansas, and finally closed in about 1980.

The Goss potters made functional stoneware with a rich, smooth taupe glaze. Their designs were hand painted. Many pieces are not marked, but had foil stickers which were easily lost. Goss and Chatham pieces are sought after because of their simple beauty and durability.
